Our Color History
I have been hobby breeder for almost 40 years now. I was first introduced to rare color dogs in the early 1980's when I started breeding Chinese Shar-Pei. I started with Blue & ended up with all the rare colors including Lilac, Chocolate, Platinum Blue, Platinum Chocolate, and Silver Blue (some color designations have changed since then). To achieve those colors I had educated myself in the Genetics needed to produce these colors and have continued to do so to this day, working with several knowledgeable Shar-Pei Breeders and Genetic Experts along the way. My dream dog was always the English Bulldog, so I gave up my Shar-Pei & adopted my first Bully in 1998. When I found out that breeding for the Rare Colors in this Awesome Breed was possible, I was very excited & with my experience in breeding Rare Colors behind me, I set out to do just that. I purchased my first carrier in July 2008, planned out my breeding program to include my show lines, and by early 2009 produced my first litter with black tri & blue as you can see below. Later in 2009 we were blessed with our first chocolate that was a blue carrier, and from that moment on, planned for the breeding to produce the beautiful Lilac color I had been blessed with so many years prior. In just over 3 years, from the adoption of our carrier boy, we produced our first True (traditional) Color Lilac Bulldog Baby. The True Lilac Color looks just like a Weimerainer...very hard to explain unless you can see it in person. We were also blessed with a Lilac Brindle in that same litter.

The term    Carrier was coined by Rare Bulldogs on the birth of their Rarest of all litters born on 6-18-11. The term Quad denotes that the dog has the genetics to produce all 4 Rare Colors of Lilac, Blue, Chocolate, and Black. We feel our Quad Trademark with the Chocolate Q, the Blue U, the Lilac A, and the Black D is fitting.

is a pending Registered Trademark owned by Rare Bulldogs.com. Our Trademark is copyrighted and therefore cannot be used without permission.

What an honor! We just received a request to use our dogs and to work with one of the top Genetic Labs on the complicated black colors, there being 4 or more, in connection with the English Bulldog Breed. Of course we accepted. It may be a few months, but we will share their findings and explanations when the study is finished. This will help all Rare Color EB Breeders tremendously in knowing what to expect from the matches they choose in their breeding programs. Read more HERE.
